Reflecting on the Archives: Why I’m Opening My Books

Recently, I scrolled through my camera roll, analyzing the artwork I’ve created over the past decade for customers. This is how I paid my bills and funded my travels in my twenties. I was very much a “yes” girl—eager to take on any commission.

If it had a soul or a story, I painted it. I’ve painted a lot of subjects, and it wasn’t always architectural. Exploring my style and practicing my technique is really how I found my artistic voice. Before the buildings, I painted pets, wedding venues, and even an anatomical heart.

This heart was commissioned by the mother of  a brave boy celebrating a successful heart transplant.

Of all the subjects I’ve tackled, home paintings seem to be the most popular. Whether it’s the fixer-upper where you raised your kids, the first apartment you shared with a partner, or a childhood home that now only exists in photos—these walls hold our history & people want to capture that.

Even when I haven’t met a client in person, I feel like I know them through their architecture. A home painting is deeply personal because it captures the 'soul' of a space. The curated plants on a brownstone or the flags that signal what a family stands for. It’s an honor to turn these symbols of your life and values into art.

In a world of mass-produced art, an original painting of your home is a one-of-a-kind tribute to your personal story.

A Rare Winter Opening

I’ll be honest with you all: business has been a bit quiet this winter. While the silence has given me time to reflect and organize, I’m ready to get my hands messy again.

Because I want to focus on quality over quantity, I’ve decided to open my books for a limited number of custom home paintings this Spring. I don't offer these custom slots often, but I’m excited to dive back into the architecture of your lives. Whether it's a gift for a loved one or a keepsake for yourself, I’d love to help you turn your "place" into a piece of art.

Thank you for being here.

Sincerely,

Julia
